Nestled deep in the heart of the Peruvian Andes lies Rainbow Mountain, a natural wonder that draws adventurers from all corners of the globe. This geological marvel is known for its strikingly vibrant colors, which are the result of millions of years of mineral deposits. Our journey today will start very early, we will drive to the south of Cusco, after two hour we will stop to take a local prepared breakfast, we will prepare ourselves to start the hike.
As you approach the summit, the colors become more and more pronounced, with deep reds, vivid yellows, and vibrant greens creating a rainbow-like effect that seems almost otherworldly. From the top, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including snow-capped peaks, pristine lakes, and rolling hillsides. And if you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the local wildlife, which includes llamas, alpacas, and majestic Andean condors.
Finally, we will descend to our transportation to get back to the restaurant where we will take the lunch before returning to Cusco.
Considerations: Vinicunca is located 17,000 feet above sea level, just a few meters below the Base Camp at Mt. Everest. We highly recommend to stay some days in Cusco before the hike and acclimatizing to this altitude; it may help to drink water, or coca tea.
